Happy Halloween (2012)

It's hard to believe last year Sam was in Afghanistan and we were living in Utah with my parents. It was such a blessing for us to be around so many loved ones while Sam was away. I can't tell you how lucky we are to have the families we have. I have been blessed with the most giving, patient and selfless parents a child could ever ask for.  I wish Sam was with us last year. We missed him so much. This year I wish we lived a bit closer to our families so we could party on all the special upcoming Holidays with ALL our loved ones. But, you know what they say… it is what it is!!!

Halloween night was special because we had a mini family party with my parents and Uncle Josh and Aunt Jade. They are the totally decked, amazing people in the pic below! I mean seriously. Look at those costumes.
It's rare I get pictures with my children. I am always the one taking their pictures. I love that we got this picture and they are both actually looking. Smiling? That would be, of course, way too much to ask!
Londyn was two last year and she LOVED every moment of Halloween. Especially dumping out the goods she worked the neighborhood for. She was on fire. "Trick or Treat!" "I wanna go to another one!" (Another house.) She walked around with her pumpkin for months after Halloween and I finally gave it away at a white elephant gift exchange around Christmas… until she saw it and wouldn't let it go! My ploy to get the remaining candy out of her site and keep it out of her tummy totally failed.
My really awesome parents. I wish all children had parents like these.
Trip. My little guy. I love him so much!
We have so many fun fall memories from last year. Utah is full of pumpkin patches, corn mazes, haunted houses and fun fall activities. I think we went to Cornbelly's (for those of you that know what it is) about 5 times. The only obvious problem was our Dad and Husband wasn't there to participate in any of it. Thank goodness he flies in tomorrow and he isn't missing two Halloweens in a row. I can't wait to go pick him up! This is Londyn and Trip riding in a wagon at Cornbelly's. We obviously got lucky and had a sunny warm day in October!

I hope you have a Happy Halloween. I am going to be busy making lots of caramel, cupcakes, pumpkin bars, chili, ribs (and more) and then we will be enjoying the next two nights with lots of friends and some great activities!
