Time flies, babies grow fast!

Our little guy is 3 weeks old today. Where does the time go? But before it seems too far past appropriate to post these pics of his first week, I thought I would get them up!

The delivery of Trip Samuel

(To read the first half of this post, click here!)

Okay, so we left off at that last picture where I mentioned I was literally about to pop out a baby (or as Frou Wagner would say, "squeeze" out a baby). I looked at the times the photos were taken and 1 1/2 minutes after that last shot this picture was taken....

the labor (with Trip)

So, it's late and both my babies are sleeping. I haven't showered in two days, I have been peed on multiple times just in the last few hours, my son was circumcised today, and between Sam, my mom and I we are changing poopy diapers ALL THE TIME! Last night Trip started crying and within a few minutes Londyn was crying super hard and as soon as we would get one calmed down the other would start up and then freak the other one out. Londyn loves her little Trip and she cries every time she hears Trip cry. It is super cute. But things are actually really good around here. Trip sleeps well during the night and is a verrry easy going and sweet baby. We were expecting a terror since Londyn has been such a mellow little thing, but he is even more mellow than she is.

3 before we're 4!

I think our last blog post mentioned we might have some ACTUAL news to blog about soon. I'm sure most of you know by now... but we had our little precious baby boy. There are a few blog posts to follow covering the whole "event." Maybe even a few more details than some may want. But, because I live in Germany and I have family that is excited to see pics and hear more, that is just how it is going to be.

But, first things first. We knew we wouldn't be a family of three very much longer, so I wanted to make sure we got a family pic before we left for the hospital.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I know it has been forever since I have blogged! I think it is because I don't have much to blog about these days. We haven't been traveling or doing much and we also haven't had a baby!! But we have a few updates so here it goes...

Big girl clothes, staches and our Green Smoothie!

The blender before I blended my green smoothie this morning. Some of you already saw it on facebook but I discovered that I LOVE ginger in my green smoothies. I love these smoothies anyways, but ginger is such a different and yummy taste. This particular smoothie is:

Happy Halloween!

If it were up to me I wouldn't even really be thinking about Halloween anymore. I LOVE the Holiday, but I am so consumed in Christmas music and the Christmas season that Halloween sometimes just passes by without enough attention. Especially by November 1st... it is totally, legitimately the Christmas season, in my opinion.

He's back... for now!

This is old news by now, but Sam has been back for about a week now! And about a week before that he surprised us and was able to come home for one night and be with us for about 24 hours before he left again.

a random update

One day this week I got dressed! I thought I would take a couple pics, and show my friends and family back home that I still sometimes wear real clothes and even brush my hair. I lived without a full size brush for almost six months! I used my small travel one and my hair never had so many knots. Funny thing is, since our stuff FINALLY came three weeks ago, I've only used my big brush once.

Viewer Discretion Advised

I was all ready for bed.. found one of the most comfy (and most ugly) shirts I could find and was just about to crawl in bed when I decided it was the perfect time for a photo shoot. The house was quiet, I still don't have a husband and so I could really focus on getting a good shot of myself... like a really good shot. So, I popped my retainer out (yes I still wear it) and snapped a few pics.

What's she been up to?

Most of these pics are pretty old now! But, Londyn is into everything... I mean everything! Especially as I have been unpacking the house and getting everything in order, she has been undoing EVERYTHING I do. I thought about taking some pics of the messes she has made in the last week, but then I was too tired just thinking about getting the camera out! (You know you have a problem when you are too tired to get the camera out.)

Happy Anni to Us in Garmsich, Germany!

For our 2nd anniversary Sam booked us a couple of nights at Edelweiss Resort in Garmish (Germany). He totally surprised me. I thought we were going to go somewhere just for the day, but he had packed our suitcase, Londyn's suitcase, the pack n play, diapers... you name it and we were ready for a weekend away. I was especially surprised since we had been camping at the same place the weekend before. Turns out he even had this weekend booked before we ever went camping.

12 month check up!

I know it has been a while since I blogged! My laptop charger quit working, so I haven't had my laptop for over a week now. Totally hard for me... I am always doing something on my laptop. I decided to try and get caught up on blogging using Sam's laptop

On 9/7 Londyn had her 12 month check up. I had literally been dreading the day for... well, ever since I witnessed her 8 week shots. Pure torture for me. This post is mostly for me, because I want to remeber her precious-ness on this day. She is just so sweet and I was so proud of her for how well she did.

Austrian Adventure

Last Monday (Labor Day) when we drove home from Garmisch, we ended up having quite the adventure. We turned on the GPS and it showed 8 or 9 accidents on our route home, so we decided to take the alternate route which showed just a few minutes longer. We thought we were being really smart.

Camping in Garmisch, Germany

Last weekend we had another four day weekend and so we decided we should do a little something. Especially since I was missing my little sister's wedding. Crazy, I know! We had to do something to get my mind off of the fact that the whole family was together, Jourdan and Josh were getting sealed in the Salt Lake Temple and they were going to throw a "Hawkes Party" for the reception.... and no one wants to miss one of those.

So, we headed south to Garmisch, Germany, which is RIGHT at the base of the Alps, 10 minutes from Austria and honestly one of the most beautiful places I have seen. It was Labor Day and we went tent camping on an Army Post that has a beautiful and actually really nice resort. I am not sure how the Army secured real estate like that. We went with a few families from church, we cooked over the outdoor grill, made smores, watched fireworks, went swimming, etc. etc. It was an amazing weekend.

Last week, this guy got promoted! He is a warrant officer in the army and he flies helicopters. When he is not flying he has some odd and end type of things he does, but for the most part his unit seems to be goofing off when they aren't flying. They have lots of fun!

It's her party!

Londyn had a birthday bash. We had so much fun and had so much support from friends and even a little bit of family out here.

Easy Party Decorations

In the midst of lots of birthday prep (over the past few weeks and on), Londyn learned to take off her diaper.  It was a week of firsts for her. She had her first olives, first vinegar soaked cucumbers (which she loved), first time taking off her diaper, first cake, first birthday, etc. etc. I also found her 4th molar and another tooth. She is growing and changing so much everyday.

Birthday-- Day 3

I told you there were lots of birthday posts!

Happy, Happy Birthday Londyn!

Twas the night before her Birthday!

On the night before Londyn's birthday we learned that Sam would not be able to attend her "family party" which was to take place on her actual birthday and include me, Sam and Londyn. He had to fly and he wouldn't be home til later. We had a few presents for her and she had gotten a few things in the mail so we decided to have her open her presents a day early.

Welcome to the Jungle, Mallorca, Spain

This morning I was laying in bed and I realized I had forgotten to include some of our pictures in the Spain post. We went to a fabulous Italian restaurant right on the boardwalk looking out over the beach and the water. It was lovely. It was called "Welcome to the Jungle." No joke. They had large animals everywhere. The super nice host dragged this large bird all the way to Londyn so she could sit next to it. Hilarious!

Mallorca, Spain

I've mentioned it a few times now, but we went to Mallorca, Spain and it was amazing. Worth a trip for sure.

This is the beginning of a new day.
God has given me this day to use as I will.
I can waste it or use if for good.
What I do today is important, because
I'm exchanging  a day of my life for it.
When tomorrow comes,
this day will be gone forever,
leaving  something I have traded for it.
 I want it to be gain, not loss; good, not evil;
success, not failure; in order that I
shall not regret the price I paid for it.

Beach Baby, Mallorca, Spain

Here's our little Londyn basking in the sun on the beach in Mallorca, Spain. I finally got some adorable photos of this dress that her Aunt Jourdan and Uncle Josh bought her in Hawaii. Londyn was so cute crawling up and down the sand and through the water in this long, flowy beach dress.

the BIG news!

5 doses of total CUTE!

Before I get to my next very important blog post I wanted to post a few adorable pics of Londyn (cause I never do). I just uploaded all the videos and photos off my phone and these are some of my very favorites of the little angel.

barn kitty

Londyn is an animal lover. She laughs out loud when dogs wag their tail, or kiss her in the face and she always gets so excited when she sees animals. Whether it is the horses on our street, cows, birds, or all of the many CATS we have in our neighborhood, she is smitten. It must be kitten season because there are little kittens all over this place. To be honest it sort of grosses me out, but because she loves it so much, I think it's kind of cute.

so much FUN!

Not all babies are lucky enough to have so much fun eating loads and loads of Kix.

Sunday Roasts and Non-Dreaded, Non-Manic Mondays

I used to sort of dread mondays. It was work, school or early morning seminary. Back to the work week grind. Well, now that I am a stay at home mommy of an 11 1/2 month old, I don't dread mondays. Maybe I will never dread mondays again or maybe one day when I have lots of school aged children or I get to work again (I miss it) the weekend ending will be bittersweet. But for now, I only dread mondays because it means sam isn't around all time.

Yesterday's Fun & A Really Good Reminder

Just incase some of you were wondering what we did yesterday.

Peach Monster

Londyn loves peaches soooo much! For the past week she has eaten at least one peach per day. Yesterday I cut the first half of her peach into chunks like I usually do. But, occasionally I will help her eat her fruit whole (bananas, peaches, apples, etc) So, I started helping her eat the second half and of course she REALLY wanted to do it all by herself. She turned into the peach monster after only a few short minutes of attempting to eat the peach all by herself.

31 lost

31 lost, 31 unwanted visits, 31 doors receive that dreaded knock, 31 families with shattered hearts, 31 pairs of boots lined up with rifles and dog tags and helmets, 31 comrades remembered and grieved for, 31 funeral services, 31 names on newly made grave markers, 31 empty places at the table, 31 souls who gave all, whose lives leave a void...my heart aches for the families of these soldiers.

We have been deeply saddened by the helicopter crash in Afghanistan yesterday. My heart aches for the wives, husbands (if there were any), children, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles of these fallen soldiers. It particularly hits home for us since the helicopter that went down is the same one sam flies. And of course for me, because I don't ever want to be the wife that gets that knock on the door, or that phone call with the devastating news that 31 families received this weekend. God be with the families of these soldiers and grant them the grace to get through this trying time.

I am so thankful for those that serve our country. America is truly an amazing place.

Sabbath day Slide

Today was a quiet and relaxing sabbath, as usual. After church Londyn went down for a nap, Sam made   Yakiniku (an amazing sweet asian meat dish served over rice), we ate til we were stuffed then took a sunday naps ourselves. We were able to take Londyn to the little playground on the property we live on and then we went on a relaxing walk around our beautiful town. The weather was perfect and we are looking forward to a full week of nice days with great weather. I love Sundays with my little fam.
Londyn is having a hard time putting her feet in the grass. Left foot flying high as usual. Love her.

Oh my, she LOVES the slide. Fearless as usual... she scoots herself all on her own til she starts sliding down. adorable.

22 weeks pregnant

A little update on the pregnancy...

When we had our doctor's appointment on 7/21 we were supposed to find out if we were having a boy or girl! Well the little sucker had it's legs totally locked for the second doctor's appointment in a row. So, we have no exciting updates. The little string bean was already 10 inches long and about 3/4 a pound. MUCH longer than the average fetus at 20 weeks. I have been feeling the baby since I was only about 13 or 14 weeks. About when I Started feeling Londyn. It's really early, but I guess there's just not much room in my little torso. This little one has already found it's way into my right ribs... ugh!!! I've finally started to pop out and actually look pregnant. Hoping for more exciting news shortly!
Don't mind these terrible, no makeup, not cute pictures!

He has her Heart

This girl is a daddy's girl. She really loves that dad of hers! He has taught her all her "tricks." He is so patient and he works with her over and over again. Over the last while he has taught her kisses, eskimo kisses, "head bonks" (those are like kisses with your forehead), how to fold her arms for prayers, sit up, lay down, give us her "binker," get him a diaper when it's time to change her and I am probably missing lots. When he gets home from work she will crawl up to him and then crawl away because she wants him to chase her and come get her. She lights up when she sees him!

All these eating/bib pictures crack me up. I ran to go get something and she had turned her bib around like a cape. She won't even keep bibs on anymore so it's a wonder we have so many bib pics. We will cherish these! :)

they always have such good times together
a little daddy/daughter cuddle

It isn't very often you get to see Londyn's mouth full of big, beautiful pearly whites. So, here is a special little peak. This girl has 8 regular teeth and two molars. The molar on the bottom is almost all the way broken through and the one on the top is trailing behind. She has been a trooper about getting these molars.

Pool day in Neuendettelsau... same town we will be delivering baby #2 in. We love that little town and it's only about 10 minutes away. Londyn even looks big in these pictures with her 6' 3" daddy. She is growing way too fast!
