31 lost

31 lost, 31 unwanted visits, 31 doors receive that dreaded knock, 31 families with shattered hearts, 31 pairs of boots lined up with rifles and dog tags and helmets, 31 comrades remembered and grieved for, 31 funeral services, 31 names on newly made grave markers, 31 empty places at the table, 31 souls who gave all, whose lives leave a heart aches for the families of these soldiers.

We have been deeply saddened by the helicopter crash in Afghanistan yesterday. My heart aches for the wives, husbands (if there were any), children, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles of these fallen soldiers. It particularly hits home for us since the helicopter that went down is the same one sam flies. And of course for me, because I don't ever want to be the wife that gets that knock on the door, or that phone call with the devastating news that 31 families received this weekend. God be with the families of these soldiers and grant them the grace to get through this trying time.

I am so thankful for those that serve our country. America is truly an amazing place.
